Our office handles a high volume of discrimination complaints, carefully analyzing facts and legal standards to uphold the Iowa Civil Rights Act. In this role, you will support the legal team as they collect documents, conduct interviews, and draft legal reports that you will send to parties. If you are detail-oriented and have strong communicating skills, this is your opportunity to play a critical role in civil rights enforcement.
What You’ll Do:
Performs intake process for civil rights complaints received by the IOCR.
Process complaints under the jurisdiction of the Iowa Civil Rights Act and relevant federal statutes.
Engage with the public through different forms of communication including telephone and email.
Process federal transmittal documentation to ensure contract compliance.
Work closely with a team of legal professionals dedicated to civil rights in Iowa.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
Two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.
A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.

Additional Qualification Requirements
Must be free to travel occasionally and work varied hours. Employees must arrange transportation to and from assigned work areas.
