ABOUT THE ROLE
The NYC Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) seeks a Programs Project Manager to support the project management of the People's Money (citywide participatory budgeting), the TRIE Neighborhood Initiative (TNI), and Voter Language Access (VLA). Reporting to the Chief Programs Officer, this role focuses on building systems, developing project plans, tracking deadlines, and facilitating collaboration across program areas to make NYC decision-making accessible to all New Yorkers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Chief Program Officer in establishing timelines, priorities, communications, and team collaboration.
- Leverage project management tools to advance TRIE program goals, including cross-team outreach and digital capacities.
- Lead project management, follow up on action items, identify challenges, and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
- Identify collaboration opportunities to widen engagement and support programmatic goals.
- Develop a Project Management Plan for each phase of The People's Money, liaising with Program Directors and tracking deliverables.
- Collaborate to strategize best practices for project management and troubleshoot emerging issues.
- Provide training to staff on Airtable and other relevant project management tools.
- Staff and support administrative needs of the Participatory Budgeting Advisory Committee.
- Make recommendations for ongoing improvement and revision of PB processes based on community and user feedback.
- Support the program implementation phase by flagging impacts of process decisions and ensuring incorporation into reporting.
- Provide data analytics and data visualization tools and assets for presentations and reports.
- Support the sortition process, from selection to onboarding.
- Provide staff support for CPO high-priority projects and convenings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties; OR
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties; OR
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Interest in inclusive civic life, voting rights, volunteerism, policy advocacy, and language access.
- Familiarity with restorative approaches to interpersonal and structural conflict.
- New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment (exceptions may apply for City employees with 2 continuous years of service).
