About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE This full-time position at Seattle World School involves teaching Pre-Calculus and Calculus courses. The classroom teacher fosters and enhances an effective learning environment, facilitates curriculum development, establishes learning objectives based on District guidelines, and provides instruction, counseling, discipline, and supervision to meet the individual needs of assigned students while evaluating their performance and progress. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Foster an educational environment conducive to learning, planning instructional programs for individual, whole group, at-risk, or special needs students. - Utilize appropriate instructional methods and materials, implement curriculum objectives, and pursue professional growth through in-service training. - Establish and implement positive classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior, providing guidance, counseling, and discipline. - Confer with students, parents, guardians, and staff to maintain open relationships, provide guidance, and encourage student achievement. - Establish classroom goals conforming to State and District statutes, evaluate and record student progress, and prepare reports for parents or guardians. - Collect and interpret data, providing reports for administrative purposes. - Direct the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel. - Attend and participate in required staff meetings, committees, and professional development activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Education: Bachelor's degree. - Experience: Academic preparation for or experience in teaching a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population in an urban school system. Specific programs may require experience working with bilingual students, implementing dropout prevention programs for at-risk students, and teaching multi-level or mainstreamed classes. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate. - Clearance: Criminal justice fingerprint and background check. - Some positions may require valid first aid and CPR certification. - Some positions may require a valid Washington State driver's license and/or a Class II driver's license.
