About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE This is an unclassified position in the Department of Information Technology, assigned to the Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) area. The role manages the overall operations of departmental systems by establishing standards, policies, procedures, and long-term objectives. Reporting to the Deputy CIO, the position ensures daily operations and projects are executed efficiently, supervises managerial and professional personnel, and frequently interacts with Department Heads and other departmental staff. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, including managing schedules, reviewing timesheets, counseling, and conducting performance appraisals. - Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work to meet objectives, monitors progress, and provides technical expertise and activity reports to management. - Manages an assigned division (e.g., Administration, Public Safety and Justice Systems, GIS, Application Support), developing strategic plans, evaluating new projects, and managing division budgets. - Manages projects by establishing priorities, developing lifecycle plans, recommending methodologies, and identifying new processes to enhance operations. - Develops and implements standards, policies, and procedures, including data management and sharing protocols. - Manages the publication of online services, data, and content for internal and public departmental websites. - Maintains awareness of emerging technologies, oversees software testing, and builds relationships with vendors to ensure access to the latest features. - Advises county departments on technology applications and fosters collaborative relationships through seminars and resource sharing. - Recommends and monitors departmental budget expenditures to ensure compliance. - Processes operational documentation, including purchase orders, invoices, and requests for proposal, and prepares analytical reports and correspondence. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. - Six (6) years of experience providing information technology related leadership and/or support within a public safety or courts related work setting. - Four (4) years of managerial or supervisory experience. - Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. - Specialized work experience utilizing ITIL, Six Sigma, or SCRUM methodologies is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. - Qualifying veterans will be given preference in the form of a guaranteed invitation to interview if minimum qualifications are met.
