JOB TITLE Assistant Director – Department of Procurement SALARY $73,268.14 - $122,357.79 ABOUT THE ROLE The Assistant Director supports the Director in overseeing procurement activities, ensuring alignment with the City of Atlanta’s goals, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role involves managing high-impact projects, leading Project Managers and Business Process Analysts, and driving continuous process improvement and resource optimization while collaborating across departments and with external stakeholders. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Operations Support: Assist in managing procurement operations, ensuring compliance and successful delivery of procurement projects. - Project Management: Support execution of large-scale procurement projects, overseeing timelines, resources, and team performance. - Process Improvement and Technology: Contribute to workflow optimization and technology integration to enhance procurement efficiency. - Risk Management and Compliance: Assist in mitigating risks and ensuring all procurement activities comply with relevant regulations and standards. - Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Support cross-departmental collaboration and communication with external stakeholders. - Performance Monitoring: Track and report on project performance, identifying improvement opportunities and using data to optimize results. - Policy Implementation: Assist with policy development and provide recommendations for process improvements and new technology adoption. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field. - Experience: 7+ years in procurement or project management, with 3+ years in a leadership or support role managing procurement projects. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Master’s degree is preferred. - PMP or Lean Six Sigma certifications are preferred. - Experience in large-scale project management is preferred.
