About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE This position is responsible for directing and implementing the City's comprehensive information technology strategy, including systems planning, business process re-engineering, and technological infrastructure to support organizational objectives. The role serves as the primary corporate spokesperson for information and technology management, guiding major organization-wide initiatives and ensuring technology aligns with senior management forecasting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Direct information management budgeting, strategic planning, and database system strategy - Oversee planning and implementation of business information systems - Set overall direction of internal business systems based on senior management forecasting - Identify user needs and build Information Services (IS) teams across organizational levels - Serve as primary corporate spokesperson for information and technology management - Explore and evaluate new technologies for future implementation - Interface with industry partners on information management matters - Provide technological support for Information Service personnel - Create and direct long-term strategic plans to guide major organization-wide initiatives - Perform additional duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Master's degree or greater with 9 to 12 years of experience - OR Bachelor's Degree with 15 to 19 years of experience - OR an equivalent combination of education and experience - Thorough knowledge of business process re-engineering and information systems management - Experience in strategic planning and budget management - Experience in building and leading cross-functional teams SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - 5 years of managerial experience is preferred - No additional certifications are required - Must be able to work extended hours when required, including 24-hour shifts or emergency schedules during major storms or critical system implementations - Physical demands include constant computer operation, regular communication with staff and stakeholders, frequent stationary positions, occasional movement inside the office, and regular travel to meetings and conferences SELECTION PROCESS 1.
