About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (BXDA) seeks an experienced and enthusiastic System Administrator. The BXDA is charged with ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the Bronx community. By pursuing justice with integrity, the office focuses on assisting crime victims while ensuring fairness to defendants and balancing appropriate punishment with the advancement of justice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer, configure, and monitor enterprise servers on-premises or on the cloud, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and SQL/Oracle DB.
- Collaborate with IT colleagues to plan, implement, and support the transition to Nutanix HCI environments for storage and server clustering.
- Manage and optimize Azure instances, including deployment, scaling, and monitoring of cloud resources.
- Implement and maintain IGEL-powered VDI systems for efficient and secure remote access.
- Utilize experience with Windows and Linux-based operating systems to support various IT needs.
- Manage central-managed tools, such as SCCM/Ivanti, to streamline routine system maintenance tasks like OS updates, patches, and backups.
- Create and maintain build pipelines for continuous integration and continuous deployment of test-ready code to QA and production environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Monitor system performance and security, taking proactive measures to prevent and mitigate potential risks.
- Maintain and execute agency business continuity plans and contribute to their upkeep.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain IT security policies and practices.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices to propose and implement system improvements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter, cloud, or complex IT infrastructure engineering and operations.
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter, cloud, or complex IT infrastructure engineering and operations.
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to options 1 or 2 above.
- Preferred skills include experience with cloud and on-premises Windows servers, Active Directory, Nutanix HCI, IGEL VDI, Azure, Linux, networking, data backup, and familiarity with legal terminology or the NYS criminal justice system.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Authorization to work in the United States is strictly required.
- The Bronx District Attorney Office does not provide sponsorship for international employees for visa applications, extensions, or status changes, including STEM/OPT visas.
