About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the supervision of the school principal or designee, this role coordinates computer technology functions at a local school, including installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate integration of the Local Area Network (LAN) with the CPS Wide Area Network (WAN).
- Manage proxy, web, video, and email servers, and install and maintain network software.
- Create users, assign rights, and establish and monitor storage management.
- Implement and manage backup networks, disaster recovery skills, and network security schemes.
- Troubleshoot LAN equipment, printers, computers, and peripherals, and resolve software conflicts.
- Identify and document problems and contact appropriate resources to resolve issues.
- Develop maintenance schedules, manage warranty services, and set up and manage databases.
- Provide basic troubleshooting workshops for teachers and train them to be print managers.
- Maintain supply and equipment inventories, monitor software licenses, and order related supplies.
- Meet regularly with the school technology team and stay current with technology trends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in network maintenance.
- Experience in the installation of basic computer hardware components.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Skills in providing technical support are highly desirable.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical Requirements: Medium work involving exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Evening and weekend work may be required.
