Senior DevOps Engineer, Infrastructure

ABOUT THE ROLE The Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) leverages technology to drive opportunity and improve public safety across New York City. The Senior DevOps Engineer will report to the Infrastructure Management division, providing Site Reliability engineering for current and new automation services and writing, updating, and maintaining code. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Monitor CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes clusters, and application health dashboards. - Triage alerts, apply documented fixes for low/medium issues, and escalate complex incidents. - Write, update, and maintain basic scripts, YAML configs, and Terraform/Ansible modules under senior guidance. - Perform smoke testing and validation of deployments in dev/staging environments to verify monitoring and logging functions. - Participate in design sessions and code reviews while building expertise in Linux, containers, Git, IaC, and observability tools. - Maintain wiki, runbooks, deployment guides, and troubleshooting documentation to reduce knowledge silos. - Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Master's degree in computer science and 3 years of full-time IT experience (including 18 months in a managerial/supervisory capacity); OR 2. Baccalaureate degree and 4 years of full-time IT experience (including 18 months in a managerial/supervisory capacity); OR 3. High school diploma and 6 years of full-time IT experience (including 18 months in a managerial/supervisory capacity); OR 4. Satisfactory combination of education and experience (must have at least a high school diploma and 3 years IT experience, including 18 months managerial/supervisory). Note: Undergraduate or graduate credits may substitute for some IT experience, but not for the 18 months of supervisory experience.
