About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Financial Information Services Agency (FISA) is seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to support DB2 v12 (or higher) on an IBM z/OS platform. The role focuses on critical city systems including the Payroll Management System, Pension Payroll Management System, and Financial Management System.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure efficient installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases.
- Author and validate procedures for all database processes.
- Identify potential issues and deliver modifications or updates for DB2 programs.
- Communicate with Tech Support regarding production migrations and provide specific instructions.
- Assist with tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills.
- Define and execute database recovery functions and standard tuning procedures like runstats and reorgs.
- Monitor the health of key database operations including backup and recovery processes, logging, and system response times.
- Open and manage support tickets logged with IBM to resolution.
- Work with application development teams to install and migrate software releases and support data fixes.
- Perform DB2 troubleshooting for online and batch programs during production and various testing phases.
- Design and execute technical tests to ensure software deliveries meet business and technical standards.
- Perform all system administration activities for the IBM InfoSphere Data Replication product, ensuring high availability.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering.
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering.
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above options.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience supporting DB2 v12 (or higher) on an IBM z/OS platform.
- No civil service exam is required for this position.
- New York City residency is not required.
