Seattle World - Math & Science Teacher - 0.6 FTE

ABOUT THE ROLE The Math and Science Teacher will foster an effective learning environment and facilitate curriculum development for multilingual high school students at Seattle World School. This is a 0.6 FTE position with classes scheduled between 12:45 pm and 4:40 pm. A background in teaching multilingual learners is strongly preferred. Bilingual speakers, candidates of color, and those committed to culturally responsive teaching practices are highly encouraged to apply. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Foster an educational environment conducive to learning and plan instructional programs to meet individual and whole group needs. - Use appropriate instructional methods and materials, implement curriculum objectives, and engage in professional growth. - Establish and implement positive classroom policies, provide guidance, counseling, and discipline, and make referrals when appropriate. - Confer with students, parents, guardians, and staff to provide guidance, evaluation, and encouragement. - Establish classroom goals conforming to state and district guidelines, evaluate student progress, and prepare reports. - Collect and interpret data for administrative purposes and direct the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel. - Attend required staff meetings, serve on committees, and participate in professional enhancement activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree. - Academic preparation or experience in teaching a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population in an urban school system. - Knowledge of subject areas appropriate to the assignment, effective behavior management techniques, and student safety rules. - Proficiency in reading, writing, and oral communication, with the ability to design and implement lesson plans for students with a wide range of achievement. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate. - Criminal justice fingerprint and background check clearance. - Some positions may require valid first aid and CPR certification. - Some positions may require a valid Washington State driver's license or a Class II driver's license.
