About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE Located in the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Transportation Planning Administration, Public Space Regulation Division (PSRD). The incumbent manages the Plan Review Branch, providing leadership and direction for staff in the review of Public Space permit applications, including maintenance of traffic and engineering reviews for Occupancy and Construction permits. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Plan, coordinate, and supervise complex special projects and programs related to the design, re-design, and improvement of agency customer service response processes and programs - Assess diverse, critical, controversial, or sensitive matters of interest and recommend approaches and solutions - Serve as a liaison between DDOT and other key District agencies in the planning, assessment, and implementation of changes in administrative processes - Coordinate changes with technical experts, other District or Federal agencies, and the private sector to determine the most effective approaches and methodologies to resolve issues MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, typically in or related to the work of the position, and equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. 2. Prior supervisory or management experience is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred - Enhanced suitability screening: Subject to pre-employment checks (criminal background checks, consumer credit check, traffic record checks) and periodic criminal background checks for the duration of tenure - Emergency Designation: Required to perform crucial duties in emergency situations (e.g., snow removal, debris removal, transportation, shelter operation), including rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Subject to 24-hour call-in. - Residency Requirement: If hired at an annual salary of $150,000 or more, must establish and maintain residency in the District of Columbia within 180 days of the effective date of appointment.
