About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a seasonal bilingual clerk position in the Voter Outreach unit preparing for the November 3, 2026, General Election. The role involves interacting with diverse populations, presenting information clearly in both Chinese and English, drafting professional correspondence, and conducting community outreach to ensure equitable access to voting and election-related services for all San Francisco residents. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Schedule and conduct presentations at community events throughout San Francisco. - Plan events, manage logistics, and provide election information at resource tables in English and Chinese. - Strengthen relationships with existing community partners and identify new organizations or media serving vulnerable and hard-to-reach communities. - Present organized data clearly in written reports and visual aids, and analyze metrics related to outreach efforts. - Provide courteous, professional election information in English and Chinese via office visits, email, and phone while using multiple applications. - Assist in Election Center Phone Banks during and after Election Day. - Assist in the Ballot Delivery Program and provide general clerical support as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. One (1) year of clerical experience including preparing and maintaining records or documents, filing, use of office equipment, public contact, and processing incoming and outgoing mail. 2. Substitution: Completion of an approved City and County of San Francisco Clerical Administrative Training program, a 240-hour clerical training program, or 15 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to 6 months of required experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Must be proficient in both English and Chinese. - Requires a valid California Driver’s License and a clean DMV record (must provide a copy before an offer can be made). - Must be able to move and lift up to 40 pounds of outreach supplies and equipment. - Must be available to work overtime during the week and on weekends as necessary (paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate). - Desirable qualifications include knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL), community outreach experience with underserved populations, event coordination, public presentation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
