About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join the team as instructors in Dance and Gymnastics. Instructors engage with a diverse community, offering classes for all ages from preschoolers to seniors. Classes are conducted both indoors and outdoors in a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Plan, organize, and instruct recreational programs or classes based on subject matter expertise. - Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for participants of all ages and skill levels. - Develop and implement engaging curriculum and activities to meet program goals. - Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during classes or programs. - Provide guidance, feedback, and support to participants to enhance their learning experience. - Set up, organize, and monitor play while always ensuring child safety. - Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse participants. - Report all incidents or accidents to office staff immediately and complete necessary forms. - Turn off all equipment and properly secure the room at the end of the work shift. - Greet the public and provide information regarding schedules, registration, and program descriptions. - Provide excellent internal and external customer service. - Practice safe work habits and contribute to the safety of self, co-workers, and the public. - Perform first aid and attend staff meetings as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Relevant experience and expertise in the subject matter to be instructed. - Passion for creating a positive and enjoyable learning experience. - Ability to work with minimal supervision. - Ability to maintain a neat, professional appearance. - Ability to speak clearly and concisely both verbally and in written form. - Instructor I: No teaching experience required; must be at least 16 years of age. - Instructor II: At least 1 year of experience in leading and instructing general classes; must be at least 16 years of age. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Current CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain it upon hire. - Must be at least 16 years of age. - Must be able to work both inside and outside. Employees may work less than 1,560 hours per year.
