ABOUT THE ROLE Join the State Correctional Institution at Cambridge Springs as a Registered Nurse to use your clinical skills while supporting patient well-being in a unique correctional setting. This role is part of a dedicated team that values compassion, professionalism, and growth within the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Nursing Care: Deliver nursing services such as checking vital signs, giving medications, performing treatments, and reinforcing health education. - Medical Support: Assist physicians during exams and clinics while administering tests, screenings, and immunizations. - Emergency Response: Provide first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) support, and refer patients to appropriate medical professionals. - Record Keeping: Maintain accurate electronic health records, complete written reports, and safeguard controlled substances. - Supply Management: Sterilize instruments, handle chemical and steam methods, and maintain an organized inventory of treatment supplies. - Team Communication: Share shift reports, communicate urgent information, and support smooth operations within the facility. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. - Candidates within 60 days of graduating from a State Board of Nursing approved school of nursing are eligible to apply, but must show proof of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA RN license at the time of appointment. - Must be able to perform essential job functions. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Employees with an active temporary practice permit must obtain full RN licensure within one year as defined by the PA State Board of Nursing. - Successful completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. - Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements. - PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. Specific work hours to be determined.
