About This Position

SALARY 24 pay periods per year, FLSA non-exempt, may be commensurate with experience: - Single Role EMT: $72,946.57 (moves to FF/EMT schedule after fire academy) - Single Role Paramedic: $84,409.60 (moves to FF/Paramedic schedule after fire academy) - Firefighter/EMT: $81,051.74 - $115,788.20 - Firefighter/Paramedic: $93,788.44 - $128,524.90 - Lateral hires with 5 or more years of documented career experience may begin at Grade 4. ABOUT THE ROLE The Red, White & Blue Fire Protection District (RWB) provides all-hazard emergency response to the Town of Breckenridge, Town of Blue River, unincorporated Summit County, and neighboring districts. The district covers 138 square miles in the Upper Blue River Valley of the Rocky Mountains, featuring high altitudes (9,200 to 14,000 feet) and significant wilderness areas. The population fluctuates heavily due to seasonal tourism, requiring robust emergency services and automatic aid coordination. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Fire suppression and emergency medical services (EMS) - Technical rescue and hazardous materials response - Wildland fire services and domestic preparedness - Community risk management and public education - Fire investigation, origin, and cause determination - Training and professional development MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Age: 21 years or older - Citizenship: US Citizenship required - Education: High School Diploma or GED required - License: Valid Driver's License (must obtain Colorado license within 30 days of hire) - Language: Ability to read and speak English - Vision: Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment capabilities - Certifications: All required certifications must be valid at the time of application SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Application Documentation (Must be uploaded in PDF format): - High School Diploma or equivalent (or highest degree awarded) - Current CO and/or National Registry EMT-Basic or Paramedic certification - Current BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR) certification - Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record - Resume and one-page letter of interest (explaining value to RWB and any employment lapses) - IAFF/IAFC CPAT Certification (required at time of job offer) Additional for Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic: - Current CO, IFSAC, or ProBoard Firefighter I certification - Current CO, IFSAC, or ProBoard Hazardous Materials Awareness/Ops Certification Preferred Qualifications (must be uploaded to be considered): - 60 college credits or higher degree - Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Tech Certification - ICS I-200, IS-700, S130/190, Wildland Red Card, IV certification, EVO certification - Proficient Spanish communication skills Disqualifiers include felony convictions, illegal drug use, perjury, invalid driver's license, poor motor vehicle records, or incomplete applications.
