ABOUT THE ROLE Full-Time, Permanent position with the New York State Office of Mental Health at the Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center (Vacancy ID: 220126). The role involves diagnosing, treating, prescribing, and providing specialized medical care and treatment services to individuals with mental illness. Location: 1010 East & West Road, West Seneca, NY 14224 Date Posted: 07/17/2026 Applications Due: 08/31/2026 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and diagnose and treat medical conditions - Prescribe medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care, modifying treatment as needed - Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve treatment goals and objectives - Maintain medical documentation consistent with agency, State, and federal requirements - Participate in discharge planning and collaborate with other providers and disciplines MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Outside State Service: Must be licensed to practice medicine in New York State and have certification by a Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in the specialty - Within State Service: Must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Must not be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists - May be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider, obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number, and actively participate to allow services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid - Loss of medical license, limited permit, or board certification in New York State may result in removal from the position - Background checks will be required SELECTION PROCESS 1.
