About This Position

ABOUT THE ROLE The Department of the Navy, Commander, Navy Installations Command, is issuing a public notice for anticipated Police Officer vacancies at various locations in California, including Coronado, Fallbrook, and San Diego Naval Base complexes. This position involves detecting and investigating unusual situations, enforcing traffic laws, responding to intrusion detection alarms, and interpreting/enforcing federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), and Navy regulations. The role is considered Key/Emergency-Essential and Mission Essential, requiring immediate support for combat operations or essential systems. Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Detect and investigate unusual situations/conditions and take required action to resolve incidents - Perform traffic law enforcement using specialized equipment such as radar and breathalyzer - Respond to intrusion detection system (IDS) alarms, emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service - Investigate complaints while interpreting and enforcing state/federal laws, UCMJ, DoD/Navy regulations, and installation directives - Prepare detailed reports, forms, and citations concerning all incidents and actions taken MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-07 Level: - One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level demonstrating: - Performing advanced aspects of law enforcement, antiterrorism, and physical security functions at military installations - Documenting law enforcement/security events and issuing citations - Conducting internal/external investigations, inquiries, or audits related to security matters - Interviewing and taking statements from victims, suspects, and witnesses in compliance with applicable laws GS-06 Level: - One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level demonstrating: - Performing aspects of law enforcement, antiterrorism, and physical security functions at military installations - Documenting law enforcement/security events and issuing citations - Conducting internal/external investigations, inquiries, or audits related to security matters General Requirements: - U.S. Citizenship - Must meet applicable federal/state minimum age requirements - Must meet arduous/hazardous duty medical requirements (good vision, color distinction, normal hearing) PREFERRED SKILLS - Experience in law enforcement or physical security at military installations - Ability to operate specialized law enforcement equipment - Strong report writing and documentation skills SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Must obtain and maintain a current valid U.S. driver’s license - Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and drug test (including marijuana) - Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance - Must be certified to carry a firearm and sign DD-Form-2760 - Must complete FLETC Uniformed Police Training Program and sign a 36-month continuing service agreement - Position is Key/Emergency-Essential and Mission Essential SELECTION PROCESS - Human Resources review of resume and supporting documentation against qualification requirements - Rating based on information provided in resume - Qualified applicants referred to hiring manager - Selecting official may conduct interviews - Verification of performance, suitability, and security information prior to offer HOW TO APPLY - Submit resume/application package via email to: CNRSW-Jobs@us.navy.mil - Include announcement number DE-12992604-26-KO in the email subject line - Deadline: 11:59 PM ET on September 22, 2026 - Required Documents: - Resume (max 2 pages, illegible resumes will not be considered) - DD-214 or VA letter (if claiming veterans' preference) - SF-15 and disability letter (if claiming 10-point preference) - Statement of service on command letterhead (for active duty members) - Transcripts or degree copies (if claiming education substitution, though none required for this role) - Copies of licenses/certifications if claimed in resume EMPLOYMENT DETAILS - Location: Coronado, CA; Fallbrook, CA; Naval Station Complex, San Diego, CA; Point Loma Complex, San Diego, CA - Department: Department of the Navy, Commander, Navy Installations Command - Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent - Pay Scale: GS-06 to GS-07 - Promotion Potential: GS-07 - Telework Eligible: No - Travel Required: Occasional - Security Clearance: Secret - Announcement Number: DE-12992604-26-KO - Control Number: 874034800 - Benefits: Potential relocation incentive authorized; certain incentives (Recruitment, Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized for eligible selectees
