ABOUT THE ROLE
This position creates, implements, and measures a comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations program to enhance the Library's public image. The role works independently under limited supervision to manage all marketing, communications, and PR activities, including publications, the website, social media, and media relations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff, including directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing performance appraisals.
- Set strategic marketing and communications goals and develop annual advertising plans.
- Function as the brand manager, interpreting and enforcing brand platform policies.
- Manage the editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all Library publications.
- Manage the strategic and creative design of the Library's website, including content management.
- Design landmark signs and approve design decisions for permanent signage, art, and decor.
- Coordinate media interest, manage public relations activities, and act as the Library's media representative.
- Develop partnerships with civic institutions, businesses, government departments, and cultural organizations.
- Assist in budget preparation and monitor expenditures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
2. Four years of experience in community or public relations, public speaking, press relations, speech or news writing, or marketing.
3. Four years of supervisory experience.
4. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, provided it includes four years of supervisory experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must provide their own source of transportation.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies to meet business needs.
- Must perform sedentary work, occasionally walking or standing, and exerting up to 10 pounds of force.
