About This Position
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Location: El Dorado Correctional Facility - Oswego Unit, 2501 7th Street, Oswego, KS 67356
- Job Type: Full-Time, Regular, Classified Service
- This entry-level position provides immediate supervision to emergencies with the goal of creating and maintaining a safe living and working environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide immediate supervision and response to emergencies within the facility.
- Create and maintain a safe living and working environment.
- Monitor and oversee facility operations to ensure security and safety protocols are followed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid Kansas Driver's License.
- At least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work Schedule: Varies based on shift assignment (6:00am-2:00pm, 2:00pm-10:00pm, 10:00pm-6:00am). Shift assignment is based on facility staffing needs and cannot be guaranteed during hiring.
- Post-Offer Testing: Must complete the KDOC Corrections Officer Test with a score of at least 70%.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and TB test.
- Criminal History Restrictions: Must be free of felony convictions, domestic violence crimes, DUIs in the past two years, and drug-related misdemeanors in the past five years.
- Tax Clearance: Must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance within 10 days of the job offer.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Open to external applicants.
- Veterans Preference Eligible applicants who meet minimum competency factors will receive an interview.
- Applicants with physical, cognitive, or mental disabilities who meet performance standards will receive an interview under the Disability Hiring Preference.
- Employer participates in E-Verify to confirm work authorization in the United States.
