About This Position

About the Role The City of Colorado Springs is seeking a welcoming, energetic, and customer service-oriented representative to serve as a Community Guide and Park Attendant at the Acacia Park Visitor Hub and Uncle Wilbur Fountain in downtown Colorado Springs. This seasonal, at-will position is responsible for answering visitor questions, disseminating information, marketing community events, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. Key Responsibilities - Operate the Acacia Park Visitors Hub, including opening and closing procedures. - Share local knowledge and make recommendations about restaurants, businesses, activities, and regional attractions. - Coordinate, stock, and maintain brochure information and create informational handouts. - Provide high-level customer service, address safety issues, and respond to emergencies. - Support an organized and accessible visitor's center and provide a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. - Manage, schedule, and coordinate Hub games in the courtyard. - Compile the guest register and track visitor counts. - Empty trash receptacles surrounding the Uncle Wilbur Fountain area and assist with Visitor Hub cleanliness. Minimum Qualifications - Experience: Two years of customer service-oriented experience, including experience working with tourists. - Certification: First Aid and CPR certification (a class is provided by the City). Special Requirements - Knowledge of the Pikes Peak Region. - Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Publisher. - Exceptional organizational and communication skills. - Ability to work independently and commit to working the entire season of operations. - Physical Demands: Ability to stand, climb, stoop, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently. - Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the City does not sponsor work visas. Selection Process 1. Application Review: Evaluation of the fully completed online application and work experience section. 2. Screening: Human Resources reviews applications to identify qualified candidates based on minimum qualifications. 3. Interview: Qualified candidates will be invited to interview to assess customer service skills, local knowledge, and communication abilities. Employment Details - Department: City of Colorado Springs - Position Type: Seasonal (at-will), Part-Time - Schedule: Daily, including weekends and holidays, between 11:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., approximately 20 to 25 hours per week.
