About the Role:
The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is seeking a Senior Behavioral Health Clinician to supervise behavioral health staff, perform clinical evaluations, and provide treatment for complex cases. This role involves multidisciplinary team coordination, psychosocial assessments, and community health education outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Class 2930 and 2931 clinicians and unlicensed support personnel, including scheduling, performance appraisals, and monitoring productivity.
- Supervise psychosocial assessments for behavioral health services and ensure appropriate referrals.
- Perform clinical evaluations, interviewing, diagnosing, and dispositioning difficult individual cases.
- Provide intensive casework and psychotherapy techniques for complex cases.
- Conduct group psychotherapy and case management, determining treatment goals.
- Chart and assure staff charting of medical records according to departmental and regulatory standards.
- Organize community health education outreach, workshops, seminars, and act as a consultant to other agencies.
- Perform Quality Improvement activities such as chart audits and compliance reviews.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Possession of a valid license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
2. Two (2) years of verifiable experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
Special Requirements:
- Both the license and experience are required before applying.
- Nature of work involves carrying out and enforcing legal provisions, making regular contacts with various stakeholders, and gathering confidential information.
- Physical effort and manual dexterity required, with occasional exposure to disagreeable elements when dealing with mentally ill or emotionally disturbed persons.
Selection Process:
1. Training and Experience Examination: 100 percent weight. Measures knowledge of legal provisions, psychiatric case management, clinical methods, decision-making, and communication skills. Must be completed via the required exam link.
2. Departmental Selection: Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department.
3. Eligible List: Candidates who pass are placed on the eligible list using the Rule of List. Names remain on the list for a maximum of 12 months.
